Harmonica lessons

Papa Lenny and Nana came to visit Friday July 3rd. We had lots of fun visiting. Of course Papa Lenny brought along his harmonica. Drew played for a few minutes but he's not the only performer in the family now.
After listening to Papa play for a few minutes she decided to try it out.
She found a pen that she was really jamming with. OK, so she didn't actually make any noise, but she danced and looked like she was playing the pen!
Thanks for the visit Papa and Nana. We love you guys!

Spanish Immersion

Every week Travis meets with some people from his spanish class at a local resturante. The class may earn extra credit for coming and only speaking spanish. The kids and I joined them last night at Charley's. Armed with a spanish dictionary and the phrase 'Como se dice' I joined the rest of the participants on the third floor. The teacher Senor Serpas, from El Salvador, was anxious to know when I would be taking his class. I told him I'd join up when Travis was good enough to tutor me! The first word I learned was palomitas de maiz, or popcorn. We had lots of fun. Thanks, Travis, for inviting us!

One tough cookie

Lately, Bria has proven over and over that she's got what it takes to thrive in the midst of older brothers. She is stepped on, fallen on, tripped over and knocked over so many times a day it's unbelievable.

She got this one falling out of a camping chair onto the sidewalk. It's still unclear if she had help from brothers or not.
Bria loves to watch the bugs in and around the garden.
Dirt is plentiful at our house and Bria revels in it!
At the end of another day romping in the backyard.

Bria is the only one that willingly let's me take pictures these days! But since she's adorable it works out fine!

Ward camp out 2009

My first activity as ward activities chair was a hit! That is until everyone bailed due to the hail storm that poured down on us! We had just started into our s'mores when it hit. Everyone ran for the one bit of shelter we had. The lightning was close so bishop told everyone to get in their cars. From there most people left. The few people who braved it out stuck around long enough to help break camp and we all headed home. No camping that night, but boy was it memorable!

Here are the great people who helped clean up our campsite.
Thanks Dave, for bringing all that water to put out the campfire. The weather took care of it for us, but thanks!
This is what everyone looked like-soaked!

Our Garden

We planted our garden on June 15th, which is the day the pros say is safe here in Flag. Drew had fun helping with his little wheel barrow.
This double stroller is amazing. It has hauled all kinds of things. I've even used it to take people dinner before. Here it is being put to good gardening use hauling soil.
The boys had a great time helping spread the soil.
Bria even helped! She sat in the dirt and spread it around by throwing it. She had lots of fun too!
I didn't get a picture of the finished garden, I'll try to remember to add that soon.

Pretzels anyone?

Bria got in to the pretzels the other day. She shook the bag so they were all over the floor. Drew was more than happy to help her clean up. Yum yum!

Star Wars Birthday Party

We had Spencer's birthday party today at the park. It was a huge hit! The kids all got pool noodle light sabers they decorated with different colors of electrical tape and special issue Jedi water blasters (squirt bottles.) We played Pass the Thermal Detonator, Rescue the Ewoks, Jedi Vs. Sith Tag, and Unfreeze Han Solo among other things. We had Yoda Soda and Light Saber cake and destroyed a Death Star pinata. It was great fun! Spencer got lots of cool star wars legos and other fun toys. And now it's over, but I could easily see myself doing this again. I think the only party theme better then Star Wars is CHOCOLATE!!!

After the party, Spencer got right to work building one of his new star wars lego sets.
