Can you tell from these pictures who was the most excited about the kittens? Memaw was so nice to let them stay for a few extra days so Luke and Bria could have a chance to enjoy them.

First Day of School
2013-2014 here we come. My kiddos where excited to start school again but ugh! I miss them when they are gone for so long! I'm so glad they like their school and teachers.
Spencer is really looking forward to starting Mastermind again. He's got this thing for mechanical pencils that you click on the side. He told me he doesn't want to do any sports this semester, so we plan on running together after school.
Drew's best friend is in a different class this year and they don't even have the same recess schedule. They were both heartbroken when they found out, but Drew is already making more of an effort to make other friends.
Bria was thrilled to start school this year. She started school after the boys so this wasn't her real first day. I'll have to post that picture later. I tried to put her in half-day, but the first day I went to pick her up she begged to stay. She loves having a teacher and spending time with other little girls.
Luke keeps trying to convince me he is five so he can go to school too. We are attending a music class and story time at the library. He loves to be read to and to play on Starfall.com I got a tiny little "real" vacuum that he loves to use and he's getting really good at counting, abcs and peeling his own carrots.
Travis is still considering signing up for a class at NAU and I'm taking a Coursera class. Learning is a favorite pastime of ours. We recognize that it is our sacred responsibility to learn all we can that is good and true. We hope to have an inspiring year as we acquire new knowledge that will bless our futures and hopefully others as well!
Our Park
We live really close to a park so we should have plenty of opportunities for swinging, sliding, soccer, basketball, frisbee,
bike riding,
volleyball,
dancing,
more volleyball,
beautiful rainbows,
and way too many mosquitoes!!!!
Fishing
Travis took Drew and Spencer to the Cub Scout Fishing Derby yesterday. It poured on them and they didn't catch a fish, but they had a super time! It was Drew's first time going fishing and he is ready to go again. Spencer said he'll be sure to plan his next trip on a day that is sunny and not windy. Maybe someday soon these boys will bring me home a lovely fish dinner!
Cute Quote
Yesterday morning when Luke was saying his prayer I told him to say what he was thankful for.
"I'm thankful for Jesus, Santa Claus and Daddy."
"I'm thankful for Jesus, Santa Claus and Daddy."

Out of Africa
We went to Out of Africa last year. Travis stayed for a little bit, then left because he had work to do close by. My favorite part was riding out to see the giraffes. We each got a carrot to feed them. It was so much fun!!!

Yep, that's me.
We got a great flip video of Luke feeding the giraffe, but missed getting a good picture. I wonder if this is the experience that made giraffes his favorite animal?
One of Drew's favorite animals is the ostrich. He loves how powerful it's legs are.
We love wild animals! We got to watch a tiger show with people playing with the tigers, jumping in a big pool with them and riding them out. We also saw the hyenas being fed. Now those are some scary animals!

Hossgrapper
Bria caught a grasshopper on a hike. She was so excited, but she couldn't seem to say grasshopper. It kept coming out hossgrapper.
